The friends of Lew Trenchard School (FLS) are an informal group of parents & teaching staff who aim to enrich the lives of the pupils of this school through fund raising and voluntary support. The chair of the committee is currently jointly held by Liz Loud & Sarah Taylor, the treasurer is Alison Harris and secretary is Tracey Hunt with several more willing helpers.
We aim through the year to hold our usual fund raising events such as Summer and Christmas fairs the Christmas hamper draw and the Easter Egg Draw. We also try to fit in other fund raising events through the year such as social evenings and Jumble sales, we also hold non fund raising social events such as the year 6’s leaving do and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee school tea party.
The FLS not only fund raise but also take on projects within school to save money such as painting rooms and maintaining outside furniture, researching ideas to enhance the school and assisting with transporting small groups of children to other school sporting fixtures. Recently, the FLS has enabled the school to buy over £1000 of Lego Robotics kit to help meet the requirements for ICT coding and for technology as part of the new curriculum.
As ever the success of our fund raising projects is dependent on the support of you the parents and the local community and in the past you have all shown strong financial support for our small school.
If you feel you can assist the FLS in any way either with just general hands on help or new fund raising projects or ideas in which to enhance the school, please come and join us any help will be gratefully received.
